Hot Honey Baked Brie (Easy 15-Minute Appetizer!)
Hot honey baked Brie is one of those fabulous appetizers that looks like you did something when you absolutely did not. Warm, melty Brie gets covered in spicy-sweet honey, toasted pecans and rosemary, and somehow putting the whole thing on a pretty plate with crackers makes it look like we have our lives extremely together.
Ingredients
- 1 8-oz wheel Brie cheese
- 3 tbsp hot honey, divided
- 1/3 cup chopped pecans
- 1 tsp fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- Pinch of flaky sea salt
- Crackers, crostini or sliced apples, for serving
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F.
- Place the Brie in a small baking dish or on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Use a sharp knife to lightly score the top of the Brie in a crisscross pattern. Leave the rind on.
- Drizzle about half of the hot honey over the Brie.
- Bake for 12–15 minutes, until the Brie is wonderfully soft and melty in the center.
- While the Brie is baking, add the pecans to a dry skillet and toast over medium-low heat for 3–4 minutes.
- Remove the Brie from the oven and drizzle the remaining hot honey over the top.
- Scatter the toasted pecans and rosemary over everything and finish with a little flaky sea salt.
- Serve immediately with crackers, crostini or sliced apples and accept compliments for the approximately six minutes of actual work you just did.
Tips & Variations
- Leave the rind on: Brie rind is completely edible and keeps the cheese contained while the inside gets all warm and fabulous.
- Don’t overbake it: Once the center feels very soft when gently pressed, you’re there. Leave it too long and your elegant appetizer becomes a small dairy-related containment issue.
- No hot honey?: Regular honey plus a few red pepper flakes gets you basically to the same place.
- Toast the pecans: Yes, it’s another pan. Yes, we normally object to this sort of thing. But three minutes in a skillet makes them so much better that we’re allowing it.
- Try different nuts: Walnuts and pistachios are both excellent here.
- Add apples or pears: The crisp fruit with warm Brie and hot honey is ridiculously good and makes the whole situation feel slightly more sophisticated.
- Add dried cranberries: Especially around Thanksgiving and Christmas, when apparently we’re legally required to put cranberries on things.
- Make it hotter: Add a few extra red pepper flakes over the top.
- Make it sweeter: A little extra hot honey drizzled over the Brie right before serving has never ruined anyone’s evening.
- Eat it while it’s hot: This is not an appetizer we make and then wander off to reorganize a closet. Baked Brie is at its best while the center is still gloriously melty!
