Spinach & Cheese Puff Pastry Pinwheels (Easy Party Appetizer!)

Flaky puff pastry rolled with a creamy spinach–cheese filling and baked until golden and irresistible. These little pinwheels feel fancy, take almost no effort, and make the perfect holiday appetizer or New Year’s party bite!

Ingredients

  • 1 puff pastry sheet, thawed
  • 1 cup frozen spinach, thawed and drained well
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella or Swiss
  • 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan
  • 1 garlic clove, minced
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 400°F and line a baking sheet with parchment.
  • Squeeze the thawed spinach completely dry — you don’t want any extra moisture.
  • In a bowl, mix spinach, mozzarella, Parmesan, garlic, salt, and pepper.
  • Unroll the puff pastry sheet and spread the spinach mixture evenly across the surface.
  • Roll it up tightly from the long end into a log.
  • Slice into ½-inch pinwheels and place them on the baking sheet.
  • Brush lightly with egg wash for a glossy, golden finish.
  • Bake 18–22 minutes, or until puffed and lightly browned.
  • Let cool slightly before serving — the cheese will be melty and perfect!

Tips & Variations

  • Add red pepper flakes for a little heat.
  • Swap mozzarella for feta for a Greek-inspired flavor.
  • Mix in a spoonful of pesto for herby richness.
  • Add chopped artichokes for a spinach-artichoke twist.
  • Serve with warm marinara or ranch for dipping.
  • Make ahead: assemble, slice, freeze on a tray, then bake from frozen +5 extra minutes.
