Creamy Garlic Chicken (Fast and Delightfully Easy!)
Tender chicken in a silky, garlicky, Parmesan-kissed sauce that tastes like way more effort than it actually is. Cozy, rich, and dangerously delicious over pasta, rice, or crusty bread!
Ingredients
- 1½ – 2 lbs chicken breasts or boneless chicken thighs
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- Salt
- Black pepper
- Garlic powder
- 4–6 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 cup chicken broth
- ¾ – 1 cup freshly grated Parmesan
- 2 tablespoons butter
Instructions
- Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
- Season the chicken with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
- Sear until golden on both sides and cooked through, then transfer to a plate.
- Lower the heat slightly and add butter and garlic to the pan.
- Cook just until fragrant. About 30 seconds. (Do not brown it.)
- Pour in chicken broth and let it simmer for about one minute.
- Reduce heat to low and stir in grated Parmesan until smooth and fabulously creamy.
- Return the chicken to the pan and spoon that glorious sauce over the top.
- Let everything mix and mingle for a few minutes.
- Serve over pasta, rice, mashed potatoes, or with bread for sauce-scooping purposes. (Our favorite bread to pair with this chicken is this simple Dutch Oven No Knead Bread that is dense, crusty and ready with almost zero effort!;)
Variations
- Freshly grated Parmesan melts MUCH better and gives you a smoother sauce – here is why grating your own cheese is an absolute game-changer for smooth, cheesy sauces!
- If the sauce thickens too much, a splash of broth loosens it right up.
- Add spinach or mushrooms if you want to sneak in some veggies.
- A squeeze of lemon brightens the richness beautifully.
- Leftovers reheat perfectly over low heat with a tiny splash of broth.
- Finish with a sprinkle of buttered bread crumbs for extra richness, flavor, and the perfect crispy texture!
