Banana Cream Poke Cake Recipe

Ingredients

• 1 box yellow cake mix (plus eggs, oil, and water per box instructions)
• 1 package instant banana pudding mix
• Milk (amount listed on pudding package)
• 1 can vanilla frosting
• 6–8 Nilla wafers, rough chopped

Instructions

• Bake the yellow cake according to package directions in a 9×13 pan.
• Let the cake cool until about 50–60% cooled, you want it still warm, but set.
• Whisk the banana pudding with milk until smooth.
• Use the handle of a wooden spoon or a skewer to poke lots of holes all over the cake.
• Slowly pour the pudding over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
• Refrigerate until the pudding is fully set.
• Microwave the vanilla frosting for about 20 seconds, just until pourable.
• Pour the frosting over the chilled cake and gently spread if needed.
• Sprinkle crushed Nilla wafers evenly over the top.

Tips & Variations

• Optional bananas: Add freshly diced banana on top right before serving for extra banana flavor. (right before serving so they don’t start turning brown)
• For best texture, add banana slices to individual servings, not to the whole cake.
