Midnight Mocha with Sea Salt
The Midnight Mocha with Sea Salt is what happens when your favorite hot chocolate grows up a little. Deep, rich, and just the right amount of moody, this drink blends espresso and melted dark chocolate into one silky masterpiece. Finished with whipped cream, a drizzle of fudge, and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt, it’s cozy, decadent, and absolutely worth staying up for. Cocktail version is also included!

Ingredients
- 1 ½ cups milk (whole or oat milk for creaminess)
- ½ cup strong brewed coffee or 1 shot espresso
- 2 tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tbsp sugar (adjust to taste)
- 2 oz dark chocolate (roughly chopped)
- ÂĽ tsp vanilla extract
- Pinch of cinnamon (optional, for warmth)
- Whipped cream or toasted marshmallows, for topping
- Drizzle of chocolate syrup
- Flaky sea salt for finishing
Instructions
- In a small saucepan, heat milk over medium heat until warm but not boiling.
- Whisk in cocoa powder and sugar until smooth.
- Stir in dark chocolate and continue whisking until melted and glossy.
- Add brewed coffee (or espresso), vanilla, and a pinch of cinnamon if using. Stir until fully combined and hot.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or toasted marshmallows.
- Drizzle with chocolate syrup and finish with a tiny sprinkle of flaky sea salt — just enough to make the chocolate pop!
Tips & Variations
- Swap the coffee for an extra ounce of melted dark chocolate if you want it caffeine-free but still rich.
- For an adult twist, add a splash of Baileys, KahlĂşa, rum or bourbon.
- Use a kitchen torch to lightly toast the marshmallows for that toasty-level finish!
