Gooey Quadruple Chocolate Oreo Poke Cake

If you want a dessert that tastes like a bakery explosion of chocolate… this is it. This Gooey Triple Chocolate Oreo Poke Cake starts with a boxed chocolate cake, gets soaked in rich chocolate pudding, then gets buried under chopped Oreos and drizzled with melted chocolate frosting. It’s messy, decadent, and ridiculously easy, and the best part is that you can make it ahead since it tastes even better after chilling overnight!

Ingredients

  • 1 box of chocolate cake mix (plus eggs, water, and oil per box instructions)
  • 1 package of instant chocolate pudding mix (plus milk according to the package directions)
  • 1–1½ boxes Oreos, roughly chopped (more Oreos = more delightful decadence)
  • 1-2 jars of fudge ice cream topping depending on level of fudge desired
  • 1 container of chocolate frosting (milk chocolate or dark chocolate)

Optional Topping

  • Cocoa powder
  • Powdered sugar
  • Finely crushed Oreos

Instructions

  • Bake the chocolate cake in a 9×13 pan according to the package directions.
  • Let the cake cool until it’s about 50–60% cooled (warm but not hot).
  • Use the handle of a wooden spoon and ~2% rage to poke lots of holes all over the cake.;)
  • Prepare the instant chocolate pudding according to the package directions – do not let it set.
  • Slowly pour the pudding evenly over the cake, letting it soak into the holes.
  • Pour fudge ice cream topping over the cake as the next layer (warm a bit if needed for easy pouring)
  • Roughly chop Oreos (chunky pieces are epic for texture).
  • Sprinkle the chopped Oreos generously over the pudding layer.
  • Microwave the chocolate frosting for about 15–25 seconds until pourable (add a tiny splash of milk if needed).
  • Drizzle the melted frosting over the Oreos – use double the frosting if you want it fully covered
  • Optional: dust the top with cocoa powder, powdered sugar, or finely crushed Oreos.
  • Refrigerate for several hours (overnight is best) before slicing and serving.(Here is the awesome reason why layered desserts are better the next day!)

Tips & Variations

  • Want it extra decadent? Use 1½ boxes of Oreos and a thicker drizzle of frosting. (translation: load it up as much as your heart desires!;)
  • More chocolate flavor: choose dark chocolate frosting and add cocoa powder dusting.
  • Clean slices tip: chill overnight and cut with a sharp knife wiped clean between slices.
  • Serve with vanilla bean ice cream for the perfect balance!
